Overview
Forklift is a heavy duty machine that being designed with criteria to arrange, load, transport and unloading goods, and most of the goods are heavy, valuable and hazardous. However the failure to follow the standard operating procedures, lack of mental preparation and poor maintenance on the functional equipment’s are the root cause of the lift truck incident and accident that leads to bodily injury, fatality and property damages.
Objectives
The Safe Handling of Lift Truck course is designed to increase the level of awareness among the lift truck operator on the aspects of own personal safety, surrounding peoples and company properties while handling the lift truck. As prescribed in Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA 1994), it is the responsibility of employer to ensure that lift and reach truck operators are trained and has the physical and mental ability to operate the truck safely.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to understand:
- The general duties of employer & employees as prescribed in OSHA 1994 , importance of self-regulatory and ownership culture thru behavioral base safety approach at the place of work in handling mechanical handling equipment
- The working capabilities and limitation of the lift truck and safe handling techniques of the lift truck in normal operations and safe handling techniques upon emergency situation
- The importance of pre-operation inspection and its checklist prior to handling lift and reach truck
